The Avocet is a small, friendly cafe run by the owners Nigel and Caroline with a small team of staff.
At the Avocet Café we believe in serving simple, good food, prepared freshly using good quality ingredients with nothing added while making good use of produce in season.
We like to use mainly local, independent suppliers which helps to support the local economy and also keeps food miles to a minimum.
It is very important to us to know what goes into the food we eat so …
- All our eggs are free range
- Our bacon comes from free range Gloucester Old Spot pigs and we use South Devon beef.
- We use non-homogenized milk from a Devon dairy where the cows are fed mainly on grass and silage and no pesticides are used on the grazing land.
- The coffee and tea are fairly traded
We endeavour to be environmentally aware and recycle all our plastic, glass, paper and card and compost as much as possible.
We use environmentally friendly cleaning products and have unbleached napkins, carrier bags, take out cups etc. We also use recycled paper, files and folders, pens etc and bio degradable bin bags.
We welcome children to our café and have high chairs, a few toys and can provide small portions of anything on the menu.
